Jan ValčíkDepartment of Computation and Control Engineering ICT Prague Virtual model of Departement of Computation and Control Engineering Tutor: Ing. Martina Mudrová, PhD. • motivation, broad objective • virtual reality • used programming language – VRML 97 • model of DCCE
Virtual Model of DCCE Jan Valčík, ICT Prague Motivation and broad objective overall complexity of ICT, difficult to find particular rooms • design virtual model facilitating navigation • visual memories facilitate navigation • model can show significant orientation points • connection to appropriate www content • broad objective is to design model of whole ICT However, it is necessary to design simple model first
Virtual Model of DCCE – Virtual Reality Jan Valčík, ICT Prague Virtual Reality everything on the web time is the most important for real behavior small parts of virtual world (~ kB) 3D appearance or illusion interaction between user and VR similar to real world to facilitate user’s adaptation hypermedium
Virtual Model of DCCE – VRML 97 Jan Valčík, ICT Prague VRML 97 standard for visual 3D data representation and simple action animations textual format, directly interpreted, object-oriented, tree structured only requirement – small web browser plug-in (1 MB+) dynamic models of physical/chemical processes supports: • prototyping and dynamic inserting, new objects definition • 2D/3D entities, complexity control • transformations, sensors, interpolators, timers • lights, textures, transparences etc. • scripts (internal or external) • audio/video streams • 4 navigation modes

Virtual Model of DCCE – Model of DCCE Jan Valčík, ICT Prague Model of DCCE What has been done: • static model of DCCE (geometry) • dynamic model (virtual walks, doors, hyperlinks) Conclusions: • VRML 97 is a suitable tool • larger model = much more prototypes of entities, textures etc. Further work: • navigation usability tests, overall evaluation • higher level prototypes, larger models presented model available on sweb.cz/shd/vscht/vscht.html
