Synthesize common lessons for selected themes Two themes selected: • Vulnerability to a changing climate • Managing risks to food, water, health and livelihoods from a changing climate • Not meant to be a comprehensive synthesis of all AIACC research
Vulnerability to a changing climate • Who is vulnerable? • What is the nature of their vulnerability? • Why are they vulnerable? • How vulnerable are they?
Managing risks to food, water, health and livelihoods • Are there lessons from managing present risks for adapting to future climate change? • What are the options? How effective? What are their costs and benefits? • What are the capacities to implement these options? • Can capacities to adapt be enhanced? How?
Conference on each theme • Papers to be invited from submitted abstracts • Papers to be prepared in advance • Author(s) to answer thematic questions based upon their case study • Papers will be reviewed, revised prior to conference • At conference, participants will • Refine, revise their papers • Jointly write a synthesis paper
Outputs • Book volume on each theme • Contents: • Case study papers/chapters • Joint synthesis paper/chapter • Submit synthesis papers to journal for publication • Distribute synthesis papers to COP, other stakeholders
