This research investigates the use of ICT devices and applications at work and in free time in Slovenia. The results are based on interviews and online questionnaires.

THE PURPOSE • The purpose of the research is to investigate: • - how many employed people in our area use ICT devices and applications at their work and why do they use them, • - how much do certain individuals of various age groups use ICT devices and applications in their free time (for example for entertainment, meeting other people, gaining information …) • - how often is ICT used at education (teachers and students) • In this purpose we made two interviews and a result analysis of three online questionnaires.
AN INTERVIEW WITH A DIRECTOR OF A TOURIST AGENCY • WE INTERVIED THE DIRECTOR ON 9TH JANUARY 2019, AT HER TOURIST AGENCY „GOR TOURISM“. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS: 1. Could you briefly present your occupation and company? „My primary occupation is tourist advisor. My company is dealing with ‚‘outgoing‘ and ‚incoming‘ tourism. It is connected with reservations and trip information.“

What application do you use at your work? „Electronic bank, Microsoft Outlook (calendar, recieving and sending emails ), Canva for working with photos, CRS (reservation), e-bills.‘‘ 3. How often do you use any of these devices at your work? „Computer: 6 hours a day, laptop: 2-3 hours a day, smart phone: more than 8 hours a day and post terminal (for payment): sometimes.‘‘
4. How much time did you need to learn how to deal with this application? Do these applications make your work easier? • „I needed different time for each application. I learned to use electronic bank in one week. To use CRS I had a 8-hour education. • Applications make my work easier. The most useful is Outlook, it enables a lot of possibilities and simplifies work…‘‘ • 5. Do you follow new application ,,trends‘‘? If you do, do you educate on your own or do you attend seminars? • „I follow the new trends, the new ones come out of the old ones. Applications are adjusted to technological development. I often educate myself on my own.‘‘
AN INTERVIEW WITH AN INTERIOR ARCHITECT • THIS INTERVIEW WAS MADE ON 22ND JANUARY 2019 AT SCHOOL. 1. Could you briefly present your occupation and company that you work for? „I work as an interior architect. My company sells ceramics and sanitary wares. I make bathroom plans“.

Could you please introduce them briefly? „I use VISOFT application to make bathroom drawings, I also arrange the FB profile of our company…‘‘. 3. How often do you use electronic devices at your work (computer, smart phone, tablet)? „I use computer every day, 8 hours a day. I use smart phone for dates with clients in Google calendar.“
AN INTERVIEW WITH AN INTERIOR ARCHITECT • 4. How long did you need to learn to use these applications? Do they make your work easier? • „I started using these applications quite fast. In three months I was able to use them at my work.“ • 5. Do you follow new ‚‘application trends‘ ? If you do, how do you gain new knowledge? Do you learn on your own or do you attend semninars? • „Yes, I follow the new trends, but I educate myself on my own. I cannot imagine working without these programmes and applications.‘‘
1. ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRE RESULTSResults use of application and ICTat work • We used this online questionnaire to interview 13 entrepreneurors or employees. • gender of respondents: 7 male and 6 female. • age of respondents: - 4 respondents were in the age group between 21 - 40; - 9 respondents in the age group of 41 – 60.

Could you mention one or two advantages of computer and application use at your work? • Work is completed faster. • It is better organized and more reliably perfomed. • It is possible to easily complete it. • It enables collecting and saving data. • It enables faster communication with clients.
DISCUSSION WITH OUR STUDENTS • Most of our pupils have a smart phone and they use them in their free time. All of them use applications in their free time. • Most of the pupils use their smart phone 1-3 hours a day, some use them also more than 4 hours daily. • They mention why they use applications: • connecting with others (Facebook, WhatApp, Instagram, Snapchat…), • some computer games they play, • to watch sport (Lifescore – for following of football mathces), • for education and learning (searching data, literature….). All pupils say that applications make lessons more interesting and they wish to learn with them more often.

3. ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRE – results of free time • We used an online questionnaire and interviewed 19 people. • gender of respondents: 3 male and 16 female. • age of respondents: - 4 respondents in the agegroup to 17; • 3 respondents in the age group from 18 - 30; • 12 respondents in the age group from 31 above. 13 respondents are employed and 6 are in the education process.
3. ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRE – results of free time • We asked the respondants to choose one or two applications that they most frequently use. • Among the known applications (Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Whatsapp, Snapchat,…) they also described: • - Letgo(its purpose is to sell used objects in the nearby surroundings), • - Photomath(you take a photo of a mathematical equation and the application shows you the procedure and the result), • - Shazam(application that listens to the music and shows you the provider and the title of the song), • - Ipublish central reader (an electronic book reader), • - appplications of various stores, • - Pons (dictionary for different languages).
