Contemporary companies… • Action Hero – ‘Watch Me Fall’ • About a dare devil risking his life doing ‘life threatening’ stunts for the audience • A good example for literal falling
Anthony Gormley - ‘Mist’ • A series of statues placed at the edge of buildings in london • A good example of falling ill as they could be seen as mentally ill wanting to commit suicide
Contemporary Theatre of Dallas – ‘Chapter Two’ • About dates, second chances and rebounds • A good example of falling in love and the different ways people fall in and out of love
Our ideas… • We liked the idea of ‘falling asleep’ • There are many different stages of sleep that we were interested in and wanted to explore further. For example, the stage between being awake and fully asleep, dreaming, nightmares, sleep walking and talking and when you feel like you are falling in your sleep.
We also liked the fact that in the different stages you have different amounts of control over your actions. • These could lead to the audience controlling some of the performance or having a performer control the piece. We could also leave the direction of the performance to chance as dreams and the sleeping pattern are often random.
