Literature Circles Roles • Groups of six, with roles determined by the group • Discussion Director • Adventurous Artist • Character Captain • Cool Connector • Wacky Wordsmith • Literary Luminary • Excess students will be drafted into groups as additional literary luminaries
Story Selection • Each group will choose two stories, and will decide in which order to discuss them in. • Stories can be found at mrdylitcirclestories.wordpress.com • Answer the relevant worksheet based on your role. • Each student must print out a copy of the story to be discussed and come to class with it.
Worksheets • Each role has a worksheet unique to that role. • Each student is expected to come to class with their worksheet already filled up • Answer the questions on the worksheet using full sentences. Explain your answers and use textual evidence to prove your point. • In addition to the worksheet, write a reader response paragraph of 5 to 8 sentences on a one whole sheet of paper, and staple it to the worksheet.
Output • After each session (1 session/text), the group must compile their discoveries and present them via PowerPoint. • Discoveries are comprised of a summary of the text, a summary of the reader reactions, and the information from their respective role sheets. • Also include the plot breakdown of the text, and whether or not the story contained any significant symbolisms or ironies.
