What is a Fable? • Fable is a short story, typically with animals as characters, conveying a moral. It’s basically like a short story teaching you a lesson.
Examples: • The Boy who Cried Wolf is a fable because it teaches you how to not lie and always tell the truth. • The Tortoise and the Hare is also a fable because it talks about how you can’t be too confident about yourself too much. “Slow and steady wins the race.”
What is a Satire? • Satire is the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices. It’s basically like making fun of someone and their opinions.
Examples: • In "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," Mark Twain uses satire to mock many different aspects of the modern world. So he makes fun of how life was back then.
