COM inspections are set • to monitor the implementation of relevant EU legislation • to verify the effectiveness of: • - national maritime security quality control systems • - maritime security measures • - procedures and structures • to look at a suitable sample of authorities, RSOs, port facilities, ships and associated companies The goal is to improvemaritime security in Member States
Types of COM inspections (1) • National administrations: • - General application of Reg 725 at national level • - General implementation of Dir 65 at national level
Types of COM inspections (2) • Ports: • - Implementation of Dir 65 at port level • Port facilities: • - Application of Regulation 725 at PF level
Types of COM inspections (3) • Ships: • - Application of Regulation 725 at ship level • - COM can follow Member States authorities
Types of COM inspections (3) • Recognised Security Organisations: - To see how RSOs act on behalf of MS + Associated shipping companies
