Content Language Objective • Read and reflect on images related to the Jim Crow Era in order to gain an understanding on the social context of the setting in “To Kill A Mockingbird”
Assignment: • After each photo complete the graphic organizer on a separate piece of paper. • Be sure to include an observation, a reflection and a question for each image. • It is ok to be angered or confused by these images, some are graphic and disturbing but all are actual images from a bygone era in American history and serve to set the context of the novel To Kill a Mockingbird.
Exit Slip • After looking at these photos, predict the tone, setting and conflict in “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Use evidence to support your prediction.
