Philosophy • About Practice • Professional standards in practice are fundamental to the expectations of practitioners training with us, in relation to their services, their colleagues, their trainers as well as to their clients • Trainee practitioners are expected to adhere to the same standards of conduct expected of any qualified provider: conveying respect and a non-judgemental approach to all interactions with others • About CBT • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is a very rich and flexible form of psychotherapy. Students will learn to apply (protocolised and idiosyncratic) CBT interventions effectively to a range of client groups (with a focus on anxiety and depression problems). • About the ‘didactic/learning style’ • Focus is on independent adult learning, the face2face teaching and supervision needs to be seen as a starting point of student’s learning – the student is expected to take responsibility for further research, reading and consolidation of skills

Structure • Academic learning • Six modules (66 days at university): foundation of CBT (2); CBT and anxiety (2); CBT and Depression (1) and CBT and comorbidity. • 30x2hrs sessions of small group clinical supervision • Teaching days consist of: literature review, case review, plenary lectures and skills training sessions • Clinical Practice • Complete 8 cases and 200 CBT sessions • Weekly supervision in the place of employment by BABCP accredited therapist
