STELLA O’CONNNOR WORKING LINKS DELIVRY MANAGER NDDP LONDON
LIFE BEFORE PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL ACCOUNT OFFICERS Barriers the Consultants faced in accessing vacancies: • Working on outreach. • Unable to dial up to search for vacancies at all times. Before Partnerships: • Communications poor • No understanding of the LAO role Result • Unaware of up and coming large recruitments. • Unable to prepare clients in advance. • Vacancies closed/ suspended by the time they are identified. • Missed opportunities.
LIFE AFTER PARTNESHIPS WHERE FORMED After partnership • Contact details of all Vacancy Service Managers and LAO’s. • JCP lead identified for Working Links. • Top ten vacancies emailed weekly. • Hard to fill vacancies emailed weekly. • Large recruitments notified at early stage. Result • Hard to fill vacancies – Job specific training identified to meet both client and employers needs. • WL consultants are aware of all top vacancies in their area. • Able to organise information sessions for clients in advance of large recruitments.
AN EXAMPLE OF HOW THIS HAS WORKED • Home Office Recruitment • Notification received from LAO’s • Clients identified from consultants caseload. • Carried out information session – explaining skills required/ competency based applications. • Day organised to support with application forms. • From this 5 clients where notified to attend competency based interview. • Day organised for interview preparation by Working Links. • Now Awaiting results.
CONCLUSION • Excellent communication between both partners. • Ability to bridge the skills gaps in local labour markets. • Improved services to both employers and clients.
