Simplifies and automates disaster recovery workflows: Setup, testing, failover Turns manual recovery runbooks into automated recovery plans Provides central management of recovery plans from VirtualCenter VMware Site Recovery Manager Site Recovery Manager leverages VMware Infrastructure to deliver advanced disaster recovery management and automation • Works with VMware Infrastructure to make disaster recovery rapid, reliable, manageable, affordable
VMware Lab Manager • VMware Lab Manager addresses the needs of development and QA engineers and the IT teams that support them by providing fast and simple self-service provisioning of multi-tier virtual machine based environments while enabling IT control over policies. • Lab Manager 3.0 • Tighter integration with Virtual Center • Vmotion, DRS (resource pools), HA, etc…. • More detailed access rules and permissions granularity (Multiple Organizations) • Multiple Networks
Stage Manager Integration Testing Staging UAT Production Stages IT Services &Applications VMware Stage Manager Service Operations archive promote clone • Management and Automation for Pre-Production Infrastructure
ThinApp: Conflict Free Applications Problem: Tightly coupled relationships between OS, Applications and Data • Symptoms: • Application Conflicts • Complex Compatibility Test Matrices • Diminished Time to Deployment • Loss of User Productivity Solution: VMware ThinApp Agentless application virtualization decouples applications and data from the OS
VMSafe Security API Framework • New security solutions can be developed and integrated within the virtual infrastructure • Provides an unprecedented level of security for VM HIPS Firewall IPS/IDS Anti-Virus Security VM • Protect the VM by inspection of virtual components (CPU, Memory, Network and Storage) • Actively engaged with the security Ecosystem • Complete integration with VMotion, Storage VMotion, HA, FT, etc. Security API ESX

Maintenance releases vs. Updates Prior to the ESX Server 3.5: • Provided Maintenance (x.y.z) releases every 4-6 months • Included security and bug fixes (rolled up from the previous 4-6 months of monthly patches) • New hardware and guest OS support. With the ESX Server 3.5 - Changed to Industry recognized terminology (i.e., ESX Server 3.5 Update 1, ESX Server 3.5 Update 2, etc.) • Increased Frequency - targeting 3-4 month intervals. Allows us to stay closer to hardware and OS releases (guests) • Include feature enhancements in a continual effort to further polish the product • Minor adjustments to the newer features once they have gone into the field and completion of testing on features that were enabled in the major/minor release, but not fully tested in time for the release
