Key elements • Project starts in 2004 • Three pilot Landlocked regions in Africa, Asia and South America • Contribution to the follow-up of the Almaty Conference on Transit Transport for LLDCS • Aimed at developing sustainable capacity to design trade facilitation solutions making use of ICTs.

  3. LLDCs and TCs needs • Look for economies of scale to improve use of transport infrastructures and equipment. • Build common transport and distribution systems sharing transport and trade support services, • Develop regional transport networks instead of disconnected national systems.

  4. The cluster-corridor approach • Along a corridor, shippers, intermediaries and carriers keep a buyer – supplier relationship, • Governmental agencies also provide services and demand information, • Business and control agencies can form clusters to improve day-to-day operations and find medium and long-term solutions for given corridors.
