SSATP Overall Goal Transport policies and strategies contributing to regional integration, poverty reduction, and economic growth SSATP Purpose Supportcountries, RECs, and donors to strengthen the promotion of sound policies and strategies leading to provision of reliable, safe, clean, efficient, and affordable transport Theme 3 Output Trade facilitation measures adopted and implemented in major regional transit corridors

Establish Corridor Observatory CICOS (Baseline Survey) Establish Corridor Observatory Central Corridor RECs and corridor groups use methodology developed by SSATP to establish and operate observatories Monitoring of Malaba Border Post (Pre OSBP) Support Port Management Associations (PMAESA and PMWACA) to establish a platform (database) of Indicators Support RECs and corridor groups to roll-out Observatory good practices and development of corridor action plans
Provide assistance to Member states in line with the Ouagadougou Declaration Establish a knowledge sharing strategy and maintain an effective mechanism for dissemination Measures to improve institutional capacity to implement appropriate policies and strategies along corridors Provide assistance for effectiveness of SSATP national coordination function within sectoral dialogue with countries and donors
Improve REC’s capacity to advocate practical implementation of VCT and support actions stock taking exercise of what is done in each corridor and REC Promote road safety along selected corridors in association with the REC-TCC Measures to improve safety and security along corridors Disseminate good practice examples reducing the prevalence of HIV/AIDS along regional corridors by engaging private transport operators and NGOs Provide assistance for effectiveness of SSATP national coordination function within sectoral dialogue with countries and donors
Improve inter-REC and SRO linkage Harmonize Transport Policies and Regulations along Corridors Improved Implementation of Regional at level conventions and regulations along transit Corridors Legal framework of One Stop Border Post Assess the level of Implementation of Regional Transport and Transit Instruments along Corridors Develop capacity building program for REC’s and SROs in transport sector
