Tuesday: Author’s Purpose • Reminder (Listen up 8B!!!!): If you have late work to turn in, do NOT come to me during Test Prep Class. • Hand in context clues & journal & redo story elements(& 8B extra HW!) Planner Due tomorrow: 1.Title: The American DreamOn a separate piece of paper, answer questions (don’t forget the writing section). Most done in class! 2. A Seat on the Bus (MC test prep)

  7. Tuesday: Author’s Purpose • Read/Discuss The American Dream page 164. • Individually work on HW for tomorrow. If you use your time wisely, I won’t give you A Seat on the Bus for HW.

Does he achieve his purpose? • Move on… Planner Journal Title: Historical Fiction In at least ½ page – page, write about how A Seat on the Bus (a modern day work of fiction) helped you understand history in a new way.

  10. Wednesday: Author’s Purpose • Popcorn read A Seat on the Bus. • Individually answer the questions. On a piece of scratch paper, write a sentence or two explaining the BEST answer. • Discuss as a class. (Smartboard?) • Exit slip: On a piece of scratch paper, write your name, “AP” and the letters of the correct answers. • If time, work on HW: Journal Title: Historical Fiction In at least ½ page – page, write about how A Seat on the Bus (a modern day work of fiction) helped you understand history in a new way.

  12. Thursday: Author’s Purpose • Show me Journal Title: Historical Fiction • Any other late work? 8B Extra HW? • If I don’t have your journal by Monday = zero. If you lost your journal, write 3-4 pages about anything for ½ credit! Title: Missing Journal Planner • Quiz tomorrow • No HW as long as you use your time wisely.

  13. Thursday: Author’s Purpose • Read/Discuss My Sun Suckers & Moon Cursers page 146. • Timed writing – 20 minutes! • A page at the minimum! If you can do more in 20 minutes, I expect more. I’ll be grading on content, grammar and sentence variety. • Go back and reread the article and take notes on the reasons people feared the darkness. • Use sensory details in your writing to convey spookiness! • 5 minutes to take notes and plan, 10 minutes of writing, 5 minutes to review and revise/edit. • Last 5 minutes: Exit slip: Answer 3 determining purpose on scratch paper.
