http://www.jenacommunications.com/marketing_market_research_target_audience.asphttp://www.jenacommunications.com/marketing_market_research_target_audience.asp • Know your target audience and the purpose of the presentation. http://www.startupmywebsite.com/cmssite/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/target-audience.jpg
http://www.lighthouse.org/accessibility/design/accessible-print-design/effective-color-contrasthttp://www.lighthouse.org/accessibility/design/accessible-print-design/effective-color-contrast • Be consistent with colours, backgrounds and font styles throughout. • Use background colours that will contrast to the colour of the text to show up easily on a large screen. • It’s OK to use a template.
http://www.ffonts.net/Plain-Simple.font http://www.int-business.com/20-new-high-quality-free-fonts/ • Simple and plain fonts between 22 and 36 points are best for reading. • Do not use more than two different font styles. • Remember, “Extra fancy” does not mean “Extra effective”!
Use bullets to highlight key words. • But limit the amount of text on each side. • We used to use the 7/7 Rule as a rough guide, but this is now considered to be too much text. • If you can't summarise it, you don't understand it!
Don't overdo the graphics • Too many things happening on a slide will distract the audience from the message you're trying to get across. http://blog.pkids.org/2010/05/21/feeling-crowded/
Clip art, animation, video and audio can enhance your message • But again, be careful not to overdo it!
http://memegenerator.net/instance/43426487 • Spell check and proofread slides! • Spelling and grammatical errors will make you look very silly!
Use the speaker’s notes feature to help plan your presentation.
Check that you have rights to the content. • This can cause you legal problems in the real world! http://billydeesspace.com/journal/2011/9/30/should-the-jury-system-be-up-for-a-retrial.html
