  2. Thomas Jefferson • Founder – He wrote the Declaration of Independence. • Not Framer – He did not help write the Constitution.

  3. What is in it? • Ideals – Beliefs about what government should be. • Arguments – Gives justification for breaking away from Britain. • Complaints – Specific complaints against the king. • Conclusion – Tells what should happen. (free and independent states)

  8. Complaints Against the King • 1. He refuses to pass laws that are good and necessary. • 2. He refuses to let Governors pass important laws without his approval. • 3. He refuses to pass laws for largely populated areas unless the people give up the right to representation • 4. He calls meeting in weird distant places. • 5. He has done away with state governments.

He refuses to allow states to grow by not allowing people to become citizens or obtain land. • 8. He refuses to give power to judges. • 9. He controls the judges jobs and salaries. • 10. He created jobs just to harass the colonists.

He created uprisings in the colonies and made Indians mad at those who settle on new land.
