Subject Pronouns Subject pronouns are pronouns that takes the place of a noun in the subject position: Ask yourself: Who or what is this sentence about? What is the subject of the sentence? Mike had lunch with Jessica = He had lunch with Jessica. (subject noun) (subject pronoun)
Subject Pronouns • Example: • Rita likes books! She loves them so much! • In this case SHE is the subject pronoun. It replaces Rita.

Let’s find some subject pronouns! (And ONLY the subject pronouns!) • Tom and Jen are friends. They are friends. • Ann likes baseball. She likes baseball. • John is a great student. He is a great student. • My mother and I look alike. We look alike.
Subject Pronouns *Replace the subject with a subject pronoun. • My friends and I love to go to the mall. • The dog is white and black. • The teachers are really nice. • You are so funny!
Object Pronouns • An object pronoun is a pronoun that takes place of a noun in the object position. • It’s“The Receiver” of the action • It is in the predicate of the sentence Mike had lunch with Jessica. = Mike had lunch with her. (object noun) (object pronoun)
Object Pronouns • Example: • Getting good grades makes Olivia happy. Hanging out with friends makes her happy too. • In this case her is the object pronoun. Her replaces Olivia.
