Consulting on the Vision Vision 2020 Working Group Workshops with over 200 young women in all five regions Surveys and interviews with over 30 partners and MOs World Board, Regional Committees and other volunteers An external scan conducted by a futurist
Vision All girls and young women are valuedand take action to change the world. Mission To enable girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world. Goals • Provide more opportunities for girls and young women to grow and lead. • Empower girls and young women to be agents of change in the world. Vision 2020
Goal 1 – Leadership Development, WLDP 2008/2009 was a pilot year for the WAGGGS Leadership Development Programme (WLDP) Working with Exeter University, we produced 8 modules and a facilitators’ guidelines
Goal 1- Leadership Development, AP • The Regional Summit - total of 16 MOs comprising 73 Adults and 26 girl participants in attendance. • 12 MOs carried out Training related to leadership development • Training by Training Pool on strategic leadership was held in Mongolia and Singapore • A total of 29 Young women were elected into national Board/Council/Executive committees of 11 MOs
Goal 2 – Strong and growing Movement, Inclusion and Diversity Roundtable held on diversity and inclusion with 17 MOs involved MOs in AP have opened guiding and scouting to underrepresented groups
Goal 2 – Strong and Growing Movement, World Centres 26,000 guests in 2009, from 97 MOs, majority of visitors under 30 years old Our Cabaña|Pax Lodge|Our Chalet |Sangam
Goal 2 - Strong and growing Movement, Global Action Theme (GAT) 17,000 Girl Guides and Girl Scouts stood up against poverty in Millennium Campaign event 22 MOs in AP used GAT in their programmes Next steps are community action resource, launched in 2010
Goal 2 – Strong and Growing Movement, AP • Focus on 6 core areas • Pacific Strategy Meetings was held • Partnership Visits were carried out in 10 MOs in 2009 and 10 more will follow in 2010 and 2011 • 11 MOs indicated they have used the WAGGGS Recruitment and Retention Toolkit • Census 2008 showed 10 MOs with an increase in overall membership • 19 MOs have a clear communication / PR strategy to promote its work • AP Leadership Awards were awarded to 754 leaders
Goal 3 – The voice of girls and young women, international advocacy events AP Delegates: COP 15 – Australia Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) – Taiwan, Australia, Cambodia Internal AIDS conference in Mexico – India
Goal 3 – The voice of girls and young women, AP • 10 MOs organised advocacy related activities on Adolescent Health / HIV / AIDS / Environment • 5 AP Resource Pool Members specialising in Advocacy were appointed • 17 MOs have influence on the formulation of youth policies in their countries
