JMBL Use Case – Gridded Data • Goal: • Access gridded forecast data for a given region of interest at a specific time. • Level: • User • Preconditions: • Gridded forecast data exists on the server accessible via a WAN with sufficient bandwidth to download the data. The user has the necessary security clearance to access the data. The server has implemented JMBL. The user has a general understanding of what forecast models are available, the times for which the forecasts are provided, the forecasted parameters and the areas of coverage of the forecasts. • Main Success Scenario: • User creates an XML instance document corresponding to the JMBL request for gridded forecast data that specifies the desired parameter, location, and time, and submits same to the server. • Server receives the request, accesses the raw data, extracts the desired data by to a file and returns to the user a JMBL response containing a reference to the data file. • The user receives the response and downloads the data file from the location specified in the reference. • Extensions: • 2a. The requested data does not exist for the designated time or location. An error message is returned to the user.
