  2. Various TDD Technologies • Electroporation - Using short electrical modulated pulses of high voltage to create transient aqueous pores in the skin. • Iontophoresis – Using low voltage electrical current to drive charged drugs through the skin. • Sonophoresis – Using ultrasound to disrupt the stratum corneum. • Thermalenergy – Using heat to make the skin more permeable • Magnetophoresis - has been investigated as a means to increase drug flux across the skin. • Needle Free Injection - devices for “firing” molecules through the skin at high velocity

  3. Electroporation • Non-invasive • Alternative to mesotherapy • Virtual mesotherapy or without needles • Painless procedure • Introduction of drugs • alternating current • rearrange the structure in the cells of the outer layer of skin • Acts as a virtual syringe • Changes direction (polarity) continuously slowly • Generating new pores • Micro and macromolecules • 500,000 Dalton as collagen. • 800.000 Dalton as hyaluronic acid

  4. Electroporation • For electroporation we need: • Membrane potential: 0.5-1.5 volts • Disrupt lipid layer • Open biological channels (aquous) • These channels stay open several seconds • Change polarity constantly

  5. Background The application of an electrical pulse momentarily disrupts the cell membrane, allowing entry of product. When the pulse ceases, the membrane returns to its original structure, leaving retained product that has penetrated into the interior of the cell in place.

  6. Electroporation • Electric doors called biological channels • Electric pulse changes membrane polarity • By slowly changing the polarization we do not cause electrolysis • This disrupts lipid layer

  7. Open Channels

  8. Intercellular Communications

  9. Cellular Penetration

  10. Electroporation • This effect lasts for seconds, therefore allowing the introduction of substances. • Hydrofilic and hydrophobic molecules penetrate at the rate of 1 g every 1 - 1.5 minutes. • Continuous formation and appearance of biological channels • Dramatically increases skin permeability.

  11. Conclusion • Electroporation is a process that uses high-voltage current to make cell membranes permeable to allow the introduction of new materials. • In a practical sense Electroporation is opening a door that allows us to insert “products” into the body.

  12. Methodology Research documents 4 times better results when you do an exfoliation such as a peel or micromicrodermabrasion before Electroporation. This eliminates dead cells from the Keratinic layer. This changes the skin potential and makes it easier to create biological channels.

  13. Comparison with Microdermabration

  14. Indications • Introduction of substances for: • Skin treatment • Cellulite • Flaccidity • Wrinkles • Obesity • Collagen production

  15. Contraindicaciones • Pacemakers, heart valves or other active implants. • Epilepsy • Pregnant women • Immediately after Botox • Skin outbreaks or on infected tissue • Metal plates or other metal objects • Ulcer or gastroenteritis

  16. WrinklesInstruction:Clean and dry skin the skin. Exfoliate by microdermabrasion. Optional: Use a micro roller after microderm. Select ProtocolPower: 70% - 80%Time of application: 20 – 25 minutesAmount of product:4 to 6 cc, divided into face, neck, and décolleté Method:Circular motion, soft and slow until completely absorbed Frequency of session:One session a week during five to six weeks After one session every two week for one month A monthly session as maintenance
