Working with overhead cranes This style of crane is quite different from the traditional model since it features a support rail system which includes the appearance of a bridge and moves in a horizontal direction beneath the support of the bridge, and lifts the heavy objects. The overhead cranes are favored in several industries. These cranes are used to move extra-large and weighty objects which couldn’t be handled by any other means.

  4. What is needed to use overhead cranes? The most basic requirement is to follow the conditions of ANSI (American National Standard Institute) and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers). For use of the gantry crane and overhead model the ANSI B30.2 is used for the safety code. Further, only a qualified engineer or the equipment manufacturer is supposed to check for the cranes’ adjustments regarding load capability rerating. And above all, a preferred load need to be checked on both sides to make sure everything is rated right.
