5. Mathematics: How do I assess ‘Using and Applying’? The ‘Using and Applying’ assessment criteria should not be assessed in isolation. Using carefully chosen rich activities within everyday teaching will provide opportunities for the ‘Using and Applying’ criteria - observe the process, not the end-product. Be flexible in which criteria you are looking for – the learners will often be working more freely.
