  1. My school magazine By Donna Clapp

  2. Layout - text • The font I used for my magazine was Arial, this was because the font is simple, which was the main aim for my magazine, for it to be simple. • I chose that my magazine was going to have a black and white theme for the front cover, but as the reader opens to the contents page, there would be more colour, throughout the magazine, the colour gradually gets more and more noticeable. I decided to do this because my magazine cover would stand out from all of the others because not many have black and white covers, this would draw the reader’s eye to my magazine. • I decided that the place of the font was going to be around the face on the front cover, this gives the front cover more shape and it also gives the front cover a structure.

  3. Layout - images • I decided that I wanted the person to the front to be medium close up, this is so the reader could see the expression to the model’s face, which also gives the model an identity and a story. • The setting that I used for the image was a plain mis en scene that didn’t have anything on it. This is so that the readers attention goes directly to the model’s face and doesn’t draw attention to anything unnecessary in the background. This also sends out a clear message of what the model’s feeling and make the reader want to find out more about the main story.

  4. Audience • The audience was targeted at sixth formers 16-18 year olds. Because the magazine was targeted for this type of audience, it had to have some type of past trend, which I decided to be minimalist. I decided to do this because the target audience would remember this trend and relate to it. The magazine also fits it with the newest trend, with a lot of colour which is shown throughout the magazine, and shows that the trends keep changing and this is shown throughout this magazine.

  5. What I could have done better • I think that the picture on the front of the magazine would attract a more artistic audience rather than anyone. • I also think that my magazine would draw teenage girls in rather than teenage boys which makes the target audience easier to attract. 5

  6. What I like the best about my magazine • The best thing that I like about my magazine is the tear running down the model’s face. I think that it was effective that we used water paint as an artificial tear running down the model’s face so that the tear was black. I think that this was one of the best parts of the magazine. 6
