  2. Hypothesis • Childrenwithprosthesis in Norway has a higherqualityof life thanchildrenwithprosthesis in Cambodia • Children in thetwocountries have different games and play activities

  3. Background info • Norway is one oftherichestcountries in theworld, number 5 with BNP of 59300 USD per capita • Cambodia is one ofthepoorestcountries in South East Asia, BNP 2000 USD per capita

Method • Peds-ql is a qualityof life questionaireaimed at childrenwithdisabilities • Validated in manylanguages, including Khmer(wedidthat) and Norwegian • Questionaireaboutprostheticsatisfaction • 2 qualitative questions about play and game activities • Ethical Committee application and approval

  5. Criterias • Childrenwith one lowerlimbprosthesis and nootherdisabilities • No mental disorders • Age between 8 and 12

  6. Method in Norway • 9 childrenfulfill all criterias • Interviews in clinic, at school or at home • Prosthetistwho make prosthesis not to performinterview • Parents not present during questionairesession

  8. Method in Cambodia • Translationinto Khmer and back two times • Tested on 10 non disabledchildren • Performed by Khmer interpreter • Parents not present

  13. Results • Prosthesisdoes not givereducedqualityof life for children • Qualityof life depends on thesocietywhereyou live • Materials and components used are not important as long as comfort and function is adequate • Educatedprosthetists, good fitting and follow up is most important
