Program DescriptionA dual degree program that allows you to obtain a BA or BS and an MS degree in Computer Science.Up to 12 hours of graduate courses can double count in your BA/BS degree.MS degree in Computer Science requires 30 hours of coursework. 12 of these hours can also be used in your undergraduate degree leaving only 18 more hours to get your MS degree!!!
Why do it? According to Winter 2006 Salary Report from National Association of Colleges and Employers, average starting salary of undergraduate computer science graduates is $50K, and average starting salary of Master's degree computer science graduates is $68K.By spending an extra year in school, you can increase your starting salary by 36%!
Eligibility • Have taken at least 75 hours of coursework applicable to the undergraduate CS degree; • Have achieved a GPA of at least 3.2 overall and 3.3 in Computer Science courses;
OK How do I apply? • Meet with MS Program Director to receive advising about early-entry program. • Take GRE exam (only verbal, quantitative, and analytic parts required). • Submit application for early-entry MS in Computer Science to the Graduate School. • Use regular on-line MS application. Check early entry box.
How do I get the degrees? • Select up to 12 hours of graduate courses from a list and double count for both BA/BS and MS degrees. • Complete requirements for BA/BS degree in CS • Graduate course work substitutes for corresponding undergraduate courses • Carry on taking graduate courses to get MS degree.
Approved Course Substitutions Best substitutions are to take 5xxx courses for both graduate and undergraduate credit. 5xxx level graduate courses are co-taught with 4xxx level and are essentially the same courses except possibly some extra assignment work.
