Legacy of Customer Service We have served our customers with safe, reliable natural gas for more than 150 years 1850: City Gas Light Company receives a charter to illuminate the streets of Norfolk, Va., with gaslights. 1855: Elizabethtown Gas is founded to fuel the 300 gaslights lining the streets of the city now known as Elizabeth, N.J. 1856: Atlanta Gas Light Company is founded to install gas streetlights in Atlanta, Ga.
