Cesar Chaves • Cesar Chaves was a farm worker who’s parents owned a small grocery store and a ranch . But during the great depression they lost everything they had . In order to survive Cesar and his family became migrant farm workers. But it was hard work they had to pick lettuce, tomatoes and peas. What kind of life did you think he had?
Cesar Chaves • Working conditions for farm workers were harsh and often unsafe. There wages were low and it was difficult to support a family. Cesar’s family did not have basic needs such as clean water or toilets. Because a large number of migrant farm workers were MexicanAmerican, they also faced prejudice, and their kids had to skip school to earn wages to support the family.
Education. • Cesar attended about 30 schools in California as his family went from place to place to find work. After eighth grade Cesar had to quit school to support his ailing parents.
