Board Responsibilities – Trusteeship • Duty of Care • Reasonably informed • Participate in collective decisions • Good faith and care of ordinary person • Duty of Loyalty • Exercise power in the interest of the organization • Duty of Obedience • Ensure organization functions within the law • Support Board decisions
Organization • USA Swimming • 4 Zones – Eastern, Southern Central, and Western • Zones divided into Sections – Southern Zone has Southern, Eastern and Western sections • Each Section is made up of Local Swimming Committees (LSC) – North Carolina Swimming • Each LSC is responsible for administering USA Swimming activities in a defined geographical area and has its own set of bylaws under which it operates. A House of Delegates with representation of athletes, coaches, members of the Board of Directors and clubs is responsible for managing the business affairs of the LSC.

Board Meetings • Approximately Every Other Month • Agenda Set ~ 1 Week Ahead • Read / research • Ask question (of individual / not group) • Attend meeting
