9. Holds Manager - Monitor your holds automatically! Use the Holds Manager to monitor and fill holds automatically. It's easy to use! Select a holds ratio, monthly budget, frequency, and maximum title limits. Save your order and let Holds Manager do the work for you. To get started, go to: Collection Tab > Holds Manager. 10. OverDrive Community Reserve: Add free titles! OverDrive Community Reserve is a digital resource sharing service that enables participating libraries to upload and share download titles. Suggested content: Local historical documents, educational materials, locally produced video or music, or anything libraries feel will benefit their patrons. Benefits: Increases the value of your collection. Downloads count as circulation. Audio Music Video eBooks Upload your own content. Add free content from other libraries. Press release • Alachua County Library District (FL) was featured in their local newspaper. • Checkouts hit the highest to date on the day the article was published. Library newsletter Simsbury Public Library (CT), member of Library Connection, dedicated their summer newsletter issue to download audiobooks. Email blast Notify your patrons quickly and easily through email.

19. Lee County Library System (FL) demonstrated how to use their download library on local morning news shows and on the 'Eye on Education' segment during the afternoon and evening news. Opening month checkouts were record breaking for a library of its size. Target Local Media Local news Local demonstrations • Kitchener Public Library (CAN) showed how to download audiobooks using the OverDrive Download Station on their local TV news. • The library circulated hundreds of digital titles in its opening month.

20. Delaware County Library System (PA) sponsored the 2007 Senior Games Fun Walk/Run T-shirts with their Download Audiobooks logo. Daily checkouts nearly doubled in the days following. Community Outreach Local sponsorship Community events • Abilene Public Library (TX) issued a magazine advertisement in two local university publications. • Circulation increased by 56% in the days following.

21. Lackawanna County Library System (PA) promoted downloadable books in their 2007 billboard campaign. Monthly checkouts increased by 74%. Get Creative Billboard Advertising space • Sno-Isle Regional Libraries (WA) used AD space on 75 community transit buses. • Partnership with Community Transit was timed perfectly with launch of wireless Internet on some longer routes. • Circulation increased by 51% from Fall 2006 to Winter 2007 Imagine this on the side of a bus!

22. Greater Phoenix Digital Library (AZ) held a Grand Opening to 'cut the ribbon' in celebration of adding OverDrive Video. In less than one year, GPDL has more than doubled their thousands of monthly checkouts. Special Events Grand Opening Staff launch party • Spokane County Library District (WA) recognized their launch with a staff party and ceremonially smashed an audio cassette (already damaged). • SCLD monthly checkouts hit nearly 1,000 in the month following the event.

23. Bowling Green Public Library (KY) hosted an MP3 raffle on their digital site. Nearly 300 patrons entered the contest, and two winners were selected. Monthly checkouts increased by 37%. Giveaways MP3 player raffle Unique swag Delaware County Library System (PA) gave Cord Men (ear bud holders) to patrons visiting the library. Staff also handed them out around the community.

What is Download Station? • Software installed to enable public Internet PCs to act as self-service download stations for audiobooks and music. • Tests portable devices for compatibility. • Transfers audiobooks and music directly to a supported device. Benefits • Self-service application, requires limited staff involvement. • Allow patrons to use library's bandwidth. • Promotes digital collection in the library.
