  3. A person that is not an electrician can use the proper extension cord to power appliance for a short period of time. • They cannot construct a extension cord using a standard junction box and remove a ground pin from a appliance cord plug.

  4. Electrical currents can flow through concrete. • Some acts that are classified as unsafe are altering a 3-prong plug to fit a 2-prong outlet and working too close to overhead power lines. • Electrical cords connected to equipment cannot be used for raising or lowering the equipment.

  5. Conductive articles of jewelry and clothing cannot be worn around exposed energized parts. • To be able to use a extension cord it must have UL Listing and three prongs. • University departments cannot decide whether to have alterations done by Physical Plant personnel or to do it themselves.

  6. Non-conductive head protection should be worn whenever there is a danger of head injury from electric shock. • Reaction to static electric shock may cause injury.
