Why it is important to break the gender segregation in the labour market • For a sustainable development in Västerbotten : A just and democratic society demands a gender equal distribution of resources, power and influence. • To make better use of the resources and competence in the region: A gender equal labour market makes better use of both women’s and men’s knowledge and experiences. • For entrepreneurship and economic growth: With gender equal conditions in the entrepreneurial world more women would run businesses, leading to an increased employment and growth in the region. • For employees and employers: Stereotype gender roles and gender segregation limit both women’s and men’s options in the labour market and makes it harder for employers to find the right woman or man for the job.
