Distance Learning Infrastructure • Same basic video equipment as used for telemedicine • Telemedicine most often conducted hospital-to-hospital • For specialty care • Current expansion into practice settings • Video equipment becoming smaller, more diffuse, more mobile and less expensive
Medical Students • Can interactively participate in lectures or mentoring from distant locations • Can sit with primary care physicians during a telemedicine consultation • Can accompany a specialist from KUMC during a consultation
Medical Residents • Can provide telemedicine services as component of residency training • Currently being done in pediatrics and adult psychiatry
