  1. English in S5-S6 Course structure Whether your child is doing Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2 or Higher English, the course structure is identical. His or her final mark will be calculated as follows: 20% - writing folio submitted to SQA 80% - final exam • In addition, 2 course units must be passed in order for your child to sit the final exam and pass. These unit assessments are known as NABs: • Language study unit (close reading NAB and 1 original writing piece • Literary study unit (textual analysis NAB) • Your child will have weekly homework to help him or her practise skills for NABs, complete the writing folio and revise for the final exam.
