The Electric Utility • Consists of 29 employees • Six (6) divisions
Line Division • Consists of twelve (12) employees. • Two five man line crews • Two single man, Distribution Trouble Trucks
Five Man Line Crews • Handle all maintenance demands, such as pole change outs, cross arm change outs, insulator repairs, transformer replacements. • Handle all new construction demands, such as building new power lines and transformer stations. • Respond to and repair power outages when required
Distribution Trouble Trucks • Each manned by one Troubleman • Repair street lights and private area lights • Install new electric services • Handle power outages during normal working hours. • Help line crews as needed
Line Trimming Division • Consists of a five man tree trimming crew. • Assisted by a two man contract crew
Line Trimmers • Provide adequate clearance around 200 miles of overhead power lines and: • Take down city owned trees which do not affect the power lines. • Also provide clearance for City streets
Substations Division • Consists of three (3) men whose duties are: • Maintain six(6) substations including new equipment installations. • Coordinate all switching procedures. • Ride overhead lines to scan for maintenance issues that may cause power outages.
Metering Division • Consists of two employees that: • Plan, install, and maintain all residential, commercial and industrial metering. • Diagnose and recommend solutions for power quality issues affecting customer service. • Conduct free residential energy audits for customers.
Engineering Division • Staffed with two employees responsible for: • Planning all new construction and services • Planning all maintenance construction. • Scheduling work in advance for line crews. • Also responsible for compliance with Public Service Commission (PSC) requirements and: • Florida Reliability Coordinating Council (FRCC) regulations. • North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards
Administration Division • Is staffed with: • Director of Electric Utilities • Assistant Director of Electric Utilitties • Two Administrative Assistants
Administrative Assistants • Create and close : • Work orders • Purchase orders • Enter payroll • Answer phone calls • Dispatch line crews • Provide administrative assistance
Assistant Director • Plans and coordinates jobs within divisions. • Inspects work of crews. • Makes sure crews are working safely. • Coordinates work with other departments.
Director of Electric Utilities • Serves as liaison to the City Manager and other department heads. • Plans and leads departmental staff meetings. • Attends FMPA Board of Director Meetings. • Creates department policies and goals. • Participates in new construction and maintenance planning to provide insight. • Oversees all department divisions.
