10. Present MHLE Coordinating Council
Responsible for convening a collaborative effort focused on health literacy strategic planning and allocating activities based on individual institutional strengths
2 representatives from each of the 3 stakeholder groups and 3 MFH representatives
Led by facilitator to promote open dialogue among council members & secure consensus of priorities resulting in a framework for the implementation of the MHLE PAG

Complete an inventory of the strengths of each applicant organization
Complete a strategic plan for health literacy in the service region
Complete an implementation plan specifying roles of each organization
12. Council Charge MHLE Coordinating Council
Charge
The Coordinating Council (CC) will be responsible for convening a collaborative effort focused on health literacy strategic planning and allocating activities based on individual institutional strengths.
Expectations
Hold monthly meetings for the first 6 months
Determine resources and structure needed to maintain operations of the CC
Provide definition of health literacy elements that should be promoted
Work together with each other and MFH to determine best methods of addressing each health literacy element across all regions, emphasizing collaboration and minimizing duplication of efforts
Approve recommendations from the CC’s subcommittees
Develop a strategic plan for improving health literacy in Missouri
Be able to identify each stakeholders’ role and responsibility in implementing the proposed plan
Promote use of the strategic plan to revise applications or develop an alternative application
MFH will incorporate the CC’s work and recommendations into its future health literacy programs
Logistics:
The CC will include 2 representatives from each of the three stakeholder groups
MFH will hold 3 voting seats
MFH will cover the costs of the CC, including consultant costs.
Subcommittees
Number and focus of subcommittees will be determined by the CC and will be formed within the first quarter (by the second CC meeting)
CC members will volunteer to serve on subcommittees based on expertise (one representative/organization)
Subcommittees may approve ideas/motions and present them to the Coordinating Council for its consideration in plan development.
