The Culture Music in 1965 varied wildly. It was the beginning of the British Invasion, Surf Rock, Cruisin’ Rock, and Folk Rock. You could also hear Motown and Rockabilly on the Top 100 charts.
Beatles vs. Elvis Until 1964, Elvis Presley was the King of Rock and Roll for teens in America. When the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan show on February 9th, 1964, all that changed and the British Invasion began. VS.
Culture Many well-known movies came out this year. Musicals, Westerns, and Spy movies were most popular.
Culture Favorite Actors included Paul Newman, Julie Andrews, Jane Fonda, and Sean Connery.
Food Folks weren’t as conscious back then about eating what we consider healthy food. Meat and potatoes, Jell-O salad, and casseroles were where it was at.
Food Teens frequented Diners, Drive-Ins, and Soda Fountains
Technology The world was moving quickly into the technology age.
