New Education Program Development • Decision to Privatize Education Program Made in late 2006 • RFP Developed and Advertised in August 2006 • Contractor to provide entertaining and educational classroom presentation and or assembly programs about solid waste and household hazardous waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting to seven through twelfth grade students. • Grade Requirement Expanded to K-12 in 2007. • Contractor shall offer and provide the program to all schools whether public, private, parochial, or alternative. • Quarterly Reporting (grade level, subject matter taught, number of students in audience, number of adults in audience, presenters name) • Evaluation of Each Presentation Required
New Education Program Development • District hired GT Environmental, Inc. effective January 1, 2007 • Initial Contract Amount - $42,000 • Goal of 175 Presentations/Year Established • GT Hired Local Retired School Teacher with Program Development Experience, Part Time • Developed Promotional Materials to Kick-Off Program • Developed Presentations • Developed Evaluation Forms • Developed Follow-Up Thank You Cards/Letters • Began Presentations in March of 2007 • Educator Retired at end of 2010 • New Educator in 2011
