Operational Summary • Coalition forces continue attack • Forces operating at border of Baghdad • Control Baghdad International Airport • Continuing efforts in Southern Iraq • Vehicle explosion at Coalition checkpoint • 3 days without missile attack into Kuwait
Security Situation Update • Rear Area Threat: • Iraqi surface to surface missile attacks still possible, though short-range threat diminished • Iraqi paramilitary activities north of Kuwaiti border • NO GO Areas: Most of northern Kuwaiti border into Iraq
Security Situation Update • KU and US military state traveling to Iraq entails risk • Close interaction with HOC prior to departure is highly recommended to ensure receipt of the most recent security updates • Vehicle travelers should take security precautions • Stay on prepared roads
Significant CMO/Civil Developments • Pakistan still working delivery of HA • Considering Red Crescent of Jordan or Syria • 10,000 tons of rice and wheat plus shelter and medical supplies • Ongoing IO/NGO assessments in Umm Qasr • Medical assessments conducted
Significant CMO/Civil Developments • Australian grain ship docked at Shuaiba late yesterday • Offloading some grain for overland haul • Milling plan not currently known • May take remaining grain to Umm Qasr
Southern Highlights • An Nasiriyah • No electricity • “appears to be quite a bit of work to do.” • Potable water needed • All visited pumping stations working but one • Require only electricity • HA medical supplies planned • Engineering assessment planned

Central Highlights • Al Shawmali (SE of Al Hillah) • Sufficient food and water (when pump running) • Water treatment plant in good condition • Normal operator still working there • Regular power from Al Hillah intermittent • Generator available • Can run for only one day • Causes pump to overheat • Requested 30m 1/2inch diameter hose for cooling • 4-bed clinic open 24 hrs • Has generator, need antibiotics, x-ray machine • Doctor: biggest risk is water quality related diseases
