For writing, the scale of most good rubrics range from 1-4 to 1-8. With one being the lowest score a student can earn • MEAP using a scale of 1-6. • Using similar scale in class is one way to help students become accustomed to MEAP scoring. Carol Osborn, Meadowbrook Writing Project Summer 2003

Teachers in other curriculums are using rubrics too. In my building, the math and science teachers want to use an uniform writing rubric for all content areas. Benefits: Students evaluated by same criteria. Saves checking time by teacher. Can be used, in conferences, to show student strengths and weakness.
