First Stanza A free bird leaps (A) On the back of the wind (B) And floats downstream (C) Till the currents ends (B) And dips his wing (C) In the orange sun rays (D) And dares to claim the sky. (E) Literal Version A bird is trying to fly away but the wind keep holding it back Figurative Version If life knocks you down just get back up and keep on fighting forwards 7 Lines
Second Stanza 6 Lines Figurative If you seek into your future You worry about’s won’t scary Life might not be fair but you have to keep moving Forward Literal The bird is starring down it’s narrow cage But a bird that stalks (E) Down his narrow cage(F) Can seldom see through (H) His bars of rage(F) His wings are clipped and His feet are tied(I) So he opens his throat to sing(J)
Third Stanza The caged bird sings(K) With a fearful trill(L) Of things unknown(m) But longed for still(L) And his tune is heard(N) On the distant hill(L) For the caged bird(N) Sings of freedom.(O) Imagery The bird represent a slave trying to escape and the cage is like life holding it back
Fourth Stanza Imagery As the bird thinks of another breeze he dreams of others birds The free bird thinks of another breeze(P) And the trade winds soft through the sighing trees(P) And the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn and he names the sky his own(Q) But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing.
