Introduction My timeline is based on events that happened between 1715 and 1799. It talks about the great start that King Louis had (JK). All the way up to the end of the French Revolution. I hope that you enjoy.
1715-1774: Deficit Spending King Louis XIV died leaving the in dept country to his son, Louis XV. But when he died the country was in even more dept due to all of the wars. So king Louis XVI was left with a country that was in bad shape. King Louis XVI
June 20, 1789: The Tennis Court Oath They call themselves the National Assembly. They had to start meeting in a racquetball court because there meeting room got locked. They would meet until they could establish a sound, and just constitution.
July 14, 1789: Storming of the Bastille More than 800 people assembled in front of the Bastille. The crowd yelled and demanded gunpowder and weapons. The crowd finally broke threw and killed guards and commanders. When they took over the Bastille, they tore it apart.
Aug. 27, 1789: The Dec. of the Rights of Man The declaration was the first step toward creating a constitution. The declaration was modeled in part on the declaration of independence. The declaration says that all male citizens were equal before the law.
June 20,1791: Arrested King Louis tried to disguise himself, leave France, and to go into Austria. But they were recognized and arrested in Varennes. They were then taken back to the capital.
Jan. 21,1793: King = Guillotine King Louis was sentenced to be execution after his trial. He was found guilty for treason by the National Convention. He was the only king to ever be executed in France.
July 28, 1794: Robespierre was beheaded It was said he was too powerful. He was in charge or the Reign of Tear. So they killed him because they though it would stop.
1799: The end of the French Revolution The governments stability was restored. Revolts slow down and or stop.
