SIGNS & SYMPTOMS • Symptoms • Sweating, heartbeat increases, intense fear, shaking, chest pain, abdominal distress, lightheadedness, shortness of breath, a chocking sensation, feeling of detachment, numbness or tingling, chills or flushes. • Signs • Experience frequent, unexpected panic attacks that aren’t tied to a specific situation. • Are behaving differently because of the panic attacks, such as avoiding places where you’ve previously panicked. • Worry a lot about having another panic attack.
Description of illness • Panic disorder -is a mental disorder marked by recurring, unexpected panic attacks. • This may last up to several seconds to several minutes. • Could happen with out any warning, and no clear reason.
TREATMENTS • Therapy • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy • Exposure therapy for panic attacks and panic disorders • Medication • Antidepressants • Benzodiazepines
Tips for managing panic disorders • Learn more about panic disorders and attacks • Avoid smoking and caffeine • Learn how to control your breathing • Practice relaxing techniques • Stay away from place where you had past experiences of panic attack • Think of a happy place
