2. Background Info.- Where they live • Flying squirrels are usually found in North America, where there are tall trees. • The Siberian Flying Squirrel ranges from the Baltic Sea in the west to the Pacific Ocean in the east. • There are many types of flying squirrels. It depends on the location.

3. What they eat • Flying squirrels eat a big variety of many different things. Some are required in their diet, some are not. • Often, what a flying squirrel eats depends upon geographic availability of a given food source, seasonal availability of a given food source. • The southern flying squirrel has a diet very similar to that of the northern flying squirrel, however, there are differences - mainly due to food type availability. Food types vary according to geographic location. For example, the southern flying squirrel will eat pecans in the southern part of its range, but not in the northern part of its range, as the pecan tree does not grow naturally in northern climates.

10. Conclusion • All in all, the flying squirrel is a pretty interesting animal. It is one of many animals to effectively use echolocation. I found that some people keep them as pets. However, this isn’t a good idea. Besides it being a wild animal, it could never effectively use it’s echolocation if kept inside a house. All in all though, the flying squirrel is a great animal.
