Specifics of the Curriculum • See “curriculum-at-a-glance” handout in section 1 of your notebook • The program is comprised of three chief conceptual components: • Leadership self-assessment and group formation (October – January) • Strategic thinking and transformational leadership (February – March) • Leadership Skill Building and Consolidating Learning (April – June)
Challenge Discovery • Tomorrow, 10am – 3pm, rain or shine • We begin at 10; Arrive at 9:45am • Bring your own lunch. • The focus is on teambuilding. It will be fun. • Low ropes plus one. • Dress very casual and warm. Layers work well. • Allow ample travel time (past Ashland on I-95). For your GPS, use 9908 Doswell Rd, Doswell, VA 23047 • See directions in notebook front cover. Arrange carpools if you like.
Leadership Coaching • A relatively new field and leadership development resource • Is a one-on-one partnership between you and a professional coach • Focuses on maximizing your professional potential, enhancing leadership performance, and building your capacity • Differs from “life coaching” or counseling
Your leadership coach • Will focus on leadership development goals you identify together • Considers any of the topics in our curriculum, among others, to be appropriate areas in which to focus your goals • Is more likely to ask a question than tell an answer • Will expect you to take action (as agreed upon) between sessions • Is qualified to debrief with you on all of your assessment results • Has expertise in leadership issues and nonprofits
First Sessions • Will take place in mid December • Involve you and your coach getting to know each other • What you and your coach may discuss: • Your work background • Current work situation • Leadership opportunities and challenges • What you want out of ENPL • Initial thoughts about goals for the coaching • We’ll discuss the sessions in more detail as part of the retreat
ENPL Alumni Connections • The active group of 96 past graduates of ENPL • Gather monthly for learning opportunities, social and service events • Invited to March afternoon session and June graduation • Serve as “buddies” for you: • Email contact prior to Oct 16 • One in-person contact before the retreat • One more contact Jan-May

The December Retreat • Held at the Shalom House in Montpelier (30-45 minutes north) • Facilitated by Tammy Jackson (bio in section 1) and Susan Wilkes • Begins at 10am on Th, Nov 29 and concludes at 3pm on Fri, Nov 30. • This is an overnight; additional detail will come via email • Rooms are doubles. A limited number of single rooms are available for a $20 charge. See Rachel. • Dress is extremely casual • Plan on being away from email on those days
A Moment for Paperwork! • Fill out the brief “pre” assessment. Turn them in to Susan Make note of any areas you want to consider for a coaching goal. • Double check your info on the Participant Roster. Let Rachel know of any changes. • Look at the coaches bios in your notebook and review meeting times and locations. Sign up for your first coaching session on one of the bright red pages. • Turn in your Challenge Discovery forms to Rachel.
