Gen 26:15-19 • 15 So all the wells that his father's servants had dug in the time of his father Abraham, the Philistines stopped up, filling them with earth. • 16 Then Abimelech said to Isaac, "Move away from us; you have become too powerful for us." • 17 So Isaac moved away from there and encamped in the Valley of Gerar and settled there. • 18 Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died, and he gave them the same names his father had given them. • 19 Isaac's servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there.
Wells are a source of life-giving water • Digging takes effort to reach the source • Prayer, devotions, Sunday church meetings, etc. should be wells giving living water
The enemy, things, time management, busyness can stop up the wells in our lives • Hurts • Lost your first love • Wrong attitudes • Negative thinking and speaking • Doubts (Is God real?) • Imaginations (why did he/she say that?)(What did he mean?)(I don’t think they like me)
Re-dig the Wells you already have • These already exist in our lives or have been handed down to us by other generations. • They were an excellent source of Fresh Water • It is easier to open a stopped up well than to break virgin soil to dig a new one.
Discover New Wells • The journey is not over but just beginning • Form new habits that open up new wells.
Prayer • Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Praise • Psalms 149 1 Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints. 2 Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. 3 Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp. 4 For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation. 5 Let the saints rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. 6 May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, 7 to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, 8 to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, 9 to carry out the sentence written against them. This is the glory of all his saints. Praise the LORD.
Worship • Worship "to worship, prostrate oneself, bow down." (Worship includes service, sacrifice, acts of righteousness, falling at His feet) • Psalms 29:2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.
Word of God • Deuteronomy 8:3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
Kingdom Of God • Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit
Relationship • Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching. • Isaiah 40:29-31 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
