Know How We had An Ecstatic Vacation on Trips to Bermuda!!! Happy Friday everyone! I just returned from beautiful Bermuda and I am already missing the colorful homes, amazing weather, pink sand beaches, crystal blue water, friendly locals and preppy dresses. I cannot believe that of all of the places we have traveled this is our first time venturing to Bermuda. If you are yet for a trip to Bermuda, then you should definitely add it to your bucket list of destinations for vacationing away. Bermuda has always been a best kept secret destination for travelers craving a sense of old-school British grace coupled with stunning beaches, just 90 minutes away from the New York. Do you people remember that 80’s Beach Boys song, Kokomo? The first island they sing about is Bermuda. And for me, the island quite never moved beyond that decade. I always pictured this to be a place where baby boomers honeymoon, and not for family. This weekend I learned how wrong I have been. I already started falling in love a bit before I arrived; starting with the moment the British Airways captain announced our flying time: one hour, twenty minutes. My New Yorker brain immediately visualized the relaxing picture on its long stretching beaches. By wheels down, I regretted not doing this trip a long time ago. There is nothing like the rush of stepping off a plane into an unknown destination. It’s a little alarming and a whole lot of amusement, but more than anything, it can be addicting. However, before you head out to explore Bermuda’s 181 islands, let me include all the details of our trip, recommendations for what to see and where to eat, and of course, everything I wore (all smile). I have also got a lot of messages from you guys asking about the pink floral dress I posted on my Instagram, so, let me first say about it that it comes in three different shades and is under $50.
One of the biggest motivations for researching Bermuda was the short flight for our getaway. To hop on a flight and be on this beautiful island actually took me less time than I spent what to wear in the next morning while exploring this serene place. Oops!! Forgot to say an important thing, make sure your passports are up to date guys. So saying about my trip, on our very first day, we decided to explore Hamilton, Bermuda’s capital, which hosts most of the shops and restaurants on the island. We started first with Devil’s Isle, which was highly recommended by almost every traveler on their reviews about trips to Bermuda. With cozy décor and farm-to-table entrees it highly lived up to our expectations. I would definitely recommend this place to have lunch or dinner at some point during your stay. Post lunch, we (me and my husband) wandered around the main streets of Hamilton, including Church Street, Queen Street and Front Street, which have some awesome stores and boutiques. We also walked over to the beach Club and Fairmont Hamilton Princess to enquire about the sister resort where we had decided to stay. If you are looking for access to a beach and a more tropical and remote vibe, I would suggest you staying at the Fairmont Southampton. The hotel also provided us with their complimentary ferry from Southampton to Hamilton, which made our day trip to the other side of the island easier and got the best view of both the worlds. The hotel also provides shuttle cab facility to take you from the hotel to their private beach club which is also accessible to Horseshoe Bay, one of the prettiest stretches I have ever witnessed. We also did a little bit of (illegal) climbing (sshhh!! That’s a secret) to get a view of the caves and coves and were awestruck seeing the clear, bright and crystal blue water and fishes swimming close to the shore. For dinner, you can get a myriad of options in Hamilton and Southampton. The first night we thought of eating at one of the beaches of our neighboring resorts. Fresco's Restaurant and Wine Bar is the perfect spot to have a relaxing beachside dinner and dine al fresco. We also checked out Ocean Club Restaurant located on Fairmont Southampton which was hands-down our favorite meal of the trip. This great sea food restaurant combines the freshest local catch with the calm and relaxed atmosphere of this sea side setting. On our last night of the trip, we stayed local again and dined at the Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse, the oldest cast iron lighthouse in the world provides breathtaking views of the Bermuda shoreline. So, would highly recommend making a reservation to catch the panoramic view of Bermuda. My own personal take on Bermuda!!! It is an amazing island and one that I will definitely recommend visiting. We had a great time and it’s safe to say we would happily go back to visit without hesitation.
So, folks don’t forget sharing your experience on your trip to Bermuda. Till then, signing off!!! Happy Bermuda Experience!!! Love, Amelia.
