Legislative Pay Bill and Board Action • SB 505 – mandates salary cut and furlough • Board of Regents adopted provisions • Procedures and Guidelines Manual, Chapter 3, Section 8 to comply with SB505
Professional Employees Salary Reduction • ALL NSHE professional employees are subject to a 2.5% pay cut, with the following specific exceptions: • 100% grant and/or contract funded faculty • 2. UNSOM clinical faculty – the portion of salary derived from clinical contracts and clinical revenue • 3. Letter of Appointment Instructors, temporary employees including temporary part-time faculty, residents, graduate assistants, post docs, and student workers
Professional Employees Salary Reduction • Base salary remains at current level • Contract amount reflects the 2.5% salary reduction • Retirement is not paid on the 2.5% reduction
Professional Employees Unpaid Leave – “A” Contract Faculty • Six days of unpaid leave per year – taken in ½ day increments • Non-instructional faculty may take unpaid leave at any time, with supervisory approval. Instructional faculty may take leave on any non-teaching day with supervisory approval. • Pay is reduced by 2.3% over the contract year • Retirement is paid on unpaid leave • Exemption: Letter of appointment instructors, temporary employees including temporary part-time faculty, residents, graduate assistants, post docs, and student workers.
Professional Employees Unpaid Leave – “B” Contract Faculty • Four days of unpaid leave per year • Unpaid leave may be taken on any non-teaching day, in half day increments, with supervisory approval • Pay is reduced by 2.3% over the contract year • Retirement is paid on unpaid leave • Exemption: Letter of appointment instructors, temporary employees including temporary part-time faculty, residents, graduate assistants, post docs, and student workers.
Other Faculty Information • No salary reduction or unpaid leave on stipends • 100% grant funded on July 1 is determined by what was budgeted in CBE system • 100% grant funded means 100% grant funded
Faculty Renewal Notification • Personalized e-mail • Renewal message • Salary worksheet detailing salary
Classified Employees Salary Reductions • 2.5% pay reductions • Department of Personnel will reduce salary schedules • Retirement is not paid on the 2.5% reduction
Classified Employees Furloughs • 6 days per year • May be taken in increments of 2 or more hours • 3 days must be taken from July – December and 3 days January - June • Submit furlough scheduling form in July and December-Requires supervisory approval • Changes may only occur in the same pay period • Pay reduced in the week furlough taken • Retirement paid on furlough
Faculty Pay Day Change • Change payday from last day of month to the first working day of the month • Conversion likely to happen June 30 – July 1 (2), 2012 • 11 pay periods in 2012 if implemented • One time cash generation of $37 million • Direct deposit timing dependent on financial institution
Classified Health Care Premiums • Split health care premium deduction between paycheck on the 10th and 25th • September 2011 implementation target • Watch for announcements
