Disappearing Wetlands Wetlands are: • perfect workshops of science principles • important ecosystems in all parts of the country • Habitat for incredible diversity of plants and animals • Nurseries for countless species of fish and shellfish • Filter and purify fresh water • Protect coastlines from hurricanes and storm surges • threatened

After the broadcast ….We all gained from the videoconference experience… • Overcame time, transportation, and disability barriers • Opened doors to follow-up conversations via videoconferencing • Students attended more than one broadcast • Teachers videotaped broadcasts for absent students
We are still gaining… • Every location on the RI video network can participate from a distance. • Open captioned broadcasts can be fed to any location with I2 capabilities. • Follow-up via videoconferencing – e.g., JASON Jeopardy, meet the researcher, outreach scientists. • The network and technical expertise has been established to extend the project further
