EUCEN AIMS AND OBJECTIVES • Vision • Enable members to serve most effectively the people of Europe. • Influence the development of ULLL policy. • Promote an European model of LLL and promote interaction. • Contribute to a LLL policy. • Mission • Exchange of experience and information. • Provide contacts. • Harmonise levels of Quality for ULLL amongst members. • Develop University Credit Transfer. • Influence European policy on ULLL.

EUCEN AIMS AND OBJECTIVES • Strategy • Assist ULLL policy makers. • Provide a forum to discuss ULLL ideas. • Provide an accurate and rapid source of information. • Help members strengthen their contacts. • Encourage the exchange of information. • Provide academic and administrative support. • Support members wishing to develop European LLL research. • Provide opportunities for LLL staff development. • Seek opportunities for student exchange.

EUCENMEMBERSHIP • 149 universities as full members in 29 different European countries. • 11 universities as associate members from 9 different countries. • 19 national networks for UCE/LLL and other international networks or institutions as affiliate members. • 9 individual members (representing non-formal international networks). TOTAL of 188 MEMBERS in 39 different countries NOTE: The number of members will change (i.e. increase) after the General Assembly 30 April 2005.

EUCENEUROPEAN CONFERENCES • EUCEN European Conferences are: • of European dimension • focussed every time on a different and special theme • organised twice a year: • Spring - a large conference (holds the General Assembly) • Autumn - an event more project orientated (workshops) • They are organised in different countries of Europe: • To learn to know and appreciate local, regional and national conditions and analyse the expertise of the host university. • To bring to the host university the experience accumulated by EUCEN and be a catalytic impulsion in LLL. • To produce a wide and durable impact on a large number of universities. • To raise the quality of ULLL through European co-operation.

15. EUCENTypes of Membership • FULL MEMBERS: Universities able to award doctorates, in geographical Europe. • ASSOCIATE MEMBERS: • Universities outside geographical Europe able to award doctorates. • Universities or accredited Institutions of Higher Education in geographical Europe, able to award Master degrees. • AFFILIATE MEMBERS: National or International bodies with an interest in Continuing Education, normally invited by EUCEN and with a mutual co-operation agreement. • INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS: Individuals representing informal networks active in the area of Continuing Education, invited by EUCEN.

16. EUCENSubscription Fees The annual subscription fee for Full Members is 360€. The annual subscription fee for Associate Members is 330€. The annual subscription fees are for institutional membership, not individual membership. So all the staff of the member university can benefit and use the services. The arrangement for Affiliate or Individual Members depends on each organisation and is negotiated on a case by case basis – usually it involves mutual membershipwithout payment on either side.
