Highlights of Kharif 2011 • Production is expected to rise by 12.11% due to highly favorable climatic conditions, timely sowing and timely supply of inputs. • Krishak Mahotsava was organized in each of the 670 Nyaya Panchayats (a cluster of 10-15 villages) before the start of Kharif Season. • INSIMP programme was launched this year.

  6. Strategy for Rabi 2011-12 • Emphasis on Area expansion under Pulse crops. -Traditionally fields are left fallow after ragi harvesting. Farmers will be motivated to cultivate pulse crop (lentil) in these fields. . • Focus on increasing productivity of rainfed wheat through nutrient management. • Organization of Krishi Mahotsava before Rabi sowing. • Emphasis on Agriculture Mechanization in hills.

Strengthening of Extension/ Input Delivery Machinery • 148 Staff Posts sanctioned at different levels under Support to State Extension Scheme for Extension Reforms) • 380 Farm Schools (4 in each block) functional. • “KRISHAK MAHOTSAVA” is regularly organized in before the start of Kharif and Rabi seasons at each of the 670 Nyay Panchayats. • 3,227 SHGs and 64 Federations formed for production and marketing.

  10. Strengthening of Extension/ Input Delivery Machinery • Agriculture Input stores are functional at each of the 670 Nyaya Panchayat. At each store a part time para professional has been deployed. Their emoluments are borne out through State resources. • Each district placed in charge of a Professor level SAU Scientist (in line with directions issued by MoA, GoI). • Online reporting system.

New Initiatives • Area Development Programme for villages which have opted for voluntary consolidation of land holdings. • C-DAP based schemes for holistic development of one village in each of the 670 Nyay Panchayats. • Intensive Nutrient Management Scheme for selected wheat growing villages in hills.

Marketing Initiatives • Establishment of 3 Farmer-Consumer Market Yard in Dehradun District (vki.kqa cktkj) • Establishment of 3 Market Committees/ Market Yard in Hill areas (For the first time) • 16 Agriculture Produce Collection Centers established in hills • 3,227 SHGs and 64 Federations formed for production and marketing.

  16. Issues • Sanction of State Level Seed Testing Laboratory. • Enhanced subsidy on small Power Tillers for Hill farmers. • Central grant for purchase of equipments for Bio control lab, Dehradun and Nainital
